Adagio Galleries, Palm Desert, CA
Specializing in collectible Southwest art since 1980, Adagio Galleries begins its 29th season by relocating from Palm Springs to El Paseo Drive in the heart of Palm Desert. The completion of the new gallery, boasting 5,000 square feet of exhibition space specifically designed with collectors in mind, is scheduled to open October 1. Linda Darsow Sutton, Martinez, CA
A native Californian, nationally recognized artist Linda Sutton sees art at the center of our earth, or "eARTh," as she puts it. Brought up to see and understand color and, using transparent watercolor as her medium, she is able to express the effects of light and manipulate relationships between abstraction and realism. While respecting accuracy, she also provokes an illusive quality of realism that fully engages the viewer's imagination. A wildlife artist and award-winning plein air painter (often for events benefi ting nature preservation efforts), Linda will participate in the 2008 San Luis Obispo Plein Air Painting Festival. Regina Vorgang hand weaves one-of-a-kind wool tapestry rugs. Her designs are based in traditional weaving techniques and evolve into something that is uniquely her own. Zenaida Mott, Ross, CA
Award-winning landscape and wildlife artist Zenaida Mott grew up hiking and backpacking with her family, creating within her a love of the outdoors, deep respect for the land and wildlife - and also developing a sense of responsibility to help preserve them. She has painted and lived in Africa, Japan, New England, and for more than 20 years in California, and her affi nity for these places comes across clearly in her canvasses. See her paintings of Yosemite beginning in early October at Knowlton Galley in Lodi, California. Also in October, she will exhibit at the Seasons of Martis in Northstar, Lake Tahoe, and at the annual Baywood Artists Exhibit in Sausalito. Fall ArtWalk 2008, Ventura's Downtown Cultural District, CA
Now in its 16th year and attracting more than 30,000 visitors annually, ArtWalk is a free, twice-a-year, self-guided weekend walking tour of over 80 galleries, studios, and eclectic gallery-for-a day venues in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District, just steps from the beach and Ventura Pier. There are multicultural outdoor performances, a variety of children's activities, and a free shuttle that connects venues, restaurants, antique shops, boutiques, and cafes.
