Wildlife art takes over Charleston
CHARLESTON • Collectors interested in wildlife art should check out the 28th annual
Southeastern Wildlife Exposition on February 12-14, featuring 120 artists and twice as many exhibitors from across the country. This year’s featured artist is Luke Frazier of Cache Valley, UT. Throughout the weekend, visitors can peruse sculpture, carvings, paintings, giclees, jewelry, cooking classes, and wildlife demonstrations by Jack Hanna. New this year, in conjunction with Brookgreen Gardens, is a Collectors Corner exhibit featuring original art by Walt Matia, Dan Ostermiller, Rosetta, Tim Cherry, and others. Additionally, an exhibit of artwork by Lowcountry artists is on view at the Francis Marion Hotel, and photography is on display at the Embassy Suites Hotel. A Cause for Celebration

At the Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional Exhibition, which took place in November at Corse Gallery & Atelier in Jacksonville, FL, a number of awards were handed out. Master Signature member Zhiwei Tu won the gold medal and a $3,500 cash prize for INTERESTED. Nancy Howe was awarded the gold medal and $4,000 for BY HAND, Raymond Thornton won the silver medal and $1,000, and Rita Spalding was awarded the bronze medal and $1,000. Award of Excellence winners were Mary Qian, Terry Trambauer, Kevin Beilfuss, and Barbara Flowers.
